Broken Bow, NE – Shirley Goeden age 87 of Broken Bow died Friday September 9, 2016 at the Off Broadway Assisted Living in Broken Bow. Memorial services will be held on Monday September 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. A register book may be signed on Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. A rosary service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow Library Foundation or the Asera Care Hospice. Shirley Ruth Goeden was born on September 24, 1928 at Lucas, South Dakota, the third child to Arthur and Nellie (Ash) Swift. She was married to Joseph Goeden on June 5, 1948 in Grand Island, NE and moved to Broken Bow shortly thereafter. Shirley enjoyed many activities including her volunteer work at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the American Red Cross, JMMC Hospital Auxiliary and her days at the voting polling booths. She belong to several bridge clubs, enjoyed her flower garden and her daily walks Shirley is survived by her three sons; Dr. Michael J. Goeden and wife Gwen of Cape Coral, FL, Roger L. Goeden of Broken Bow, and Steven A. Goeden and wife Tarry of Santa Ana, CA; Janet K. Johnson and husband Gerald of Omaha; 9 grandchildren; Dr. Marcie Goeden, Scott Goeden, and wife, Laura, Brooks Goeden, Breanna Moyer and husband Mike, Matthew Johnson, Kelly Maresch and husband Matthew, Sarah Gee and husband Scott, Jill Grundstrom and husband Bob and Kory Patterson and husband Steve. 8 great grandchildren; Jacobi, Brooklyn, Beckam, Miles, Grace, Stella, Hailey, and Ryann. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother; and a sister.
