Funeral Services for Patrick Alton Mauldin, Age 52, will be held at the First Christian Church on Friday, November 4, 2016. Patrick lost his battle with cancer on October 30, 2016. Above all else Patrick wanted everyone to know that he is a born again Bible believing Christian and that he is safe in the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord). Patrick was born July 29, 1964 in Dallas, TX to Jim and Marilyn (Taylor) Mauldin. He grew up in Dallas and the West Texas oil field town of Midland. He attended Sam Houston Elementary, San Jacinto Junior High and graduated from Midland High School. After on year of college, he enlisted in the Navy at the age of 19 and served for six years as Sonar Technician, sailing aboard the USS Merrill stationed out of Sand Diego, California and the USS McCandless stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He then made his living at sea working for various military contractors such as Raytheon and Lockheed Martin sailing aboard various Oceanographic Research Vessels under contract to the U.S. Military. He last worked for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) sailing aboard various scientific research vessels. Pat was a quiet and simple man who enjoyed the adventure and the simplistic life at sea. He enjoyed the travel and got to see much of the world. Patrick bought his Aunt and Uncle’s (Faye & Loren Hatfield) farm in 2001 and had plans to retire there someday. He worked on the place for many years to try and restore it to it’s former glory. Unfortunately, after they built the wind farm north of town out on Round Valley Road the place was surrounded by 50 to 60 wind turbine generators and the old farm just wasn’t the same that he remembered from his childhood and he sold it. Patrick is survived by his mother Marilyn Mauldin of Broken Bow, father Jim Mauldin of Midland, TX, brother Michael (Debbie) Mauldin of Liberty Hill, TX, sister Leslie (Michael) Ralston of Midland, TX; Aunt Jeanette Hogan of Sarasota, FL; Uncles Jim (Janny) Taylor of Stuart, NE and Steve Wingo of Dallas, TX as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
