Jane Loree Sallander was born August 26, 1927 in Omaha NE to Paul and Iva (Lipps) Sallander. Jane grew up in Omaha along with her twin sister Jean, and younger sisters Joan and Joyce. Growing up amongst family and friends the sisters were loving referred to and known as the “four J’s”. Upon graduation from high school both Jane and Jean furthered their education by attending Sioux Falls College (University of Sioux Falls), in Sioux Falls SD. Both graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in elementary education. Jane met Gerrit Hamblin while attending college and they were married on June 5, 1950 the same day of her graduation. Jane and Gerrit made their first home in Primrose NE where they each had teaching jobs. In the fall of 1955 they moved to Broken Bow, NE and joined the faculty of Broken Bow schools. Jane taught kindergarten at the Custer School and Gerrit taught English and Social Studies in the Junior High. Jane was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow, and spent many years assisting with church functions and faithfully teaching Sunday school.  She was also involved in many community activities throughout her years in Broken Bow.  If you knew the Hamblin’s - then you also know they only drove Chevrolet’s and they loved dogs and cats. Jane found enjoyment and fulfillment in taking care of her pets. For over 50 years Jane adopted many dogs and cats that needed homes. Each pet received the special attention it needed - especially on birthday’s and holidays complete with party hats and costumes.          Jane is survived by her twin sister Jean (Lyle) DeKramer of Canistota, SD, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years Gerrit in 2011, and two sisters Joan Powelson and Joyce Alger.
