Ruth Ilene (Saner) Nelson age 84 of Broken Bow, died Wednesday November 9, 2016 at the Quality Living Center in Broken Bow. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday November 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 13, 2016, 1 PM to 6 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with the family greeting friends 3 PM to 5 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family. Ruth was born on March 29, 1932 at Dunning, Nebraska, the oldest girl of Pearl and Jeanette (Wilson) Saner. After high school Ruth married Emil Englekay. They lived in California. They later divorced. In August of 1964, Ruth married Tom Howard. They made their home in California, Omaha, NE, and moved to Broken Bow in 1976. Three children were born to this union; Kimberly, Randy and Lisa. Mr. Howard died in 1985. In 1987, Ruth was married to Charles “Bud” Nelson. Ruth and Bud made their home in Broken Bow. Bud died in 2001. Ruth was born into a large family of 8 children. When her parents would go to town Ruth had to be responsible for her younger brother and sisters. Ruth enjoyed holidays with her family. Ruth’s favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren. She liked playing board games, the piano and the organ. Ruth accepted Christ as her Savior many years ago. Ruth is survived by her children; Kimberly Stoddard of Broken Bow, Randy (Sonia) Howard of Gothenburg, and Lisa (Mike) Bristol of Kearney, grandchildren: Joshua Howard, Marty Gottschalk , Jaymee Coleman, Mitchel Gottschalk, Mykael Stoddard , Durea Howard, Rachel Howard, Craig Bristol, Derek Bristol, Brittney Bristol, step grandchildren: Samuel Brummet, Monte Brummet, Tasha VonKaenel, great grandchildren: Elijah Howard, Haylee Howard, Alex Gottschalk, Ava (Gottschalk) Neinaber , Carter (Gottschalk) Ryan, Macs (Gottschalk) Ryan, Jaelyn Bristol, , Aubrey Bristol, Michael Bristol. Step great grandchildren; Taylor Coleman, Tripp Brummett, Brenna Brummett, Miles VonKaenel, She is survived by her sisters; Freda Fiehler of Kearney, Marilyn Swisher of Callaway, Fern Nelson of Thedford and Lucille Barker of Broken Bow.
