Irene L. Story Clark daughter of Omer T. and Nellie E. Wolsleben Story was born December 21, 1929, in the Someford Community, Custer County, Nebraska on her grandparents homestead. The Lord called her home January 9, 2017 with her daughters at her side. Irene grew to woman hood in the Somerford Community attending Somerford Grade School (District 35) often riding her horse Twink to school. She then continued onto Sargent High School. July 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Dale Clark of Round Valley, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born, Betty and Karla. In the Spring of 1948 they moved to the Curphy place in somerford and resided there for 8 years. Many moves and odd jobs followed until they moved to the New Helena area, where they farmed and ranched for 3 years. December 1959 they were given the opportunity to move back to the Somerford Community on the Abe Ford place. They made this their home for 28 years. Due to Dale’s health, Dale and Irene purchased a home in Sargent, Nebraska and moved January 9, 1988. Irene loved the farm always out helping Dale, and to this day still misses the Spring of the year when the new baby calves are coming. Irene raised lots of chickens, had a big garden, loved her flowers (A green thumb she did have) and loved to cook. Her greatest joy was her grand and great grandchildren. Before leaving the farm she worked at Jack & Jill in the Deli in Broken Bow, Nebraska, after moving to Sargent she operated the café at Sargent Livestock Exchange where she built up quite a business. Irene also worked for Sargent Public Schools for the Green Thumb Program as an aide, helping the teachers and students for 18 years. Due to failing health she sold their home and moved to the Key Villa in Sargent, Nebraska May of 2007. May of 2016 she moved to Assisted Living (Off Broadway) in Broken Bow, Nebraska and later that year to Friendship Hall in Burwell, Nebraska. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents Omer and Nellie , four sisters Doris, Deloris, Virginia and a infant sister; two brothers Clark and Karl and two nephews Johnny Campbell and Tommy Fred and her beloved dog Boomer. Those to mourn her loss are daughters Betty (Louis) Hansen, Karla (Gene) Kinney both of Sargent, Nebraska. Five Grandchildren, Jim (Amy) Fred of Sargent, NE, Shiloh (Diego) Bravo of Keller, Texas, Jesse Kinney, Amanda (John) Huber all of Omaha, NE, Cody Fred of Sargent, NE Alicia Fred of Columbus, Five Great Grandchildren Isabella and Mateo Bravo, Leah Fred, Kinlee Huber, Brenna and Brycen Fred. One sister Dee Fred of West Lafayette, Indiana, a Brother-in-law Allen (Margie) Clark; sisters-in-law Georgia Kuklish and Louise Clark many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Homer Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Somerford Cemetery near Sargent. Visitation will be held on Friday, 9 AM to 8 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. A lunch will be held at the Palladium in Sargent following the graveside services.
