Rena Govier Griffith

June 27, 1922 — February 11, 2017

Broken Bow, NE – Rena June Govier Griffith age 94 of Broken Bow, died Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Broken Bow United Methodist Church with Pastor Bonnie Brock officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 15, 2016, 4 PM to 6 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Rena June Griffith was born to Clarissa (Walker) and Evan Lloyd Hodgin June 27, 1922. She went to school and lived in the Broken Bow area most of her life.  She was united in marriage to John (Ed) Govier and In the early 50’s Rena and Ed bought a farm on the South Loup River. They moved to Eddyville where Rena cooked for the school for a time and then they bought and ran the Pool Hall. Rena married and divorced Gregory Downey and in the 70’s she began working at the B-D plant and retired from there in the 80’s.  She was united in marriage to Theodore Griffith September 1995 and together they enjoyed traveling and everything she cooked was great but her home-made noodles, cinnamon rolls & pies were un-matched.  It also gave her great pleasure to crochet afghan for babies & adults, making denim quilts and loved to play cards.  She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Govier) Clouse (Thomas) of Tullahoma TN, son, Gary Govier (LeeAnn) of Eddyville NE. Grandchildren Rebecca (Clouse) York, of Klamath Falls OR, Elizabeth (Clouse) Jolliffe, of Tullahoma TN, Shawn Clouse of Charlottsville, VA, Dennis Clouse of Vashon WA, Andrea (Clouse) Moore of Colorado Springs CO, Thomas Clouse,  of Spokane WA, and Joseph Clouse of Portland OR.  Gwen (Govier) Kugler, of Broken Bow, Jodi (Govier) Pettit, of Kearney, Matt Govier of Eddyville. Great-grandchildren Justin & Ben Jolliffe, Katie York, Cameron Hill, Lucas, Isac, Isabella, Mattias Clouse, John Thomas Zimmerman, and Madison Galimanis, Craig, Cole, Christopher Hollibaugh, Lance and Jordan Bain, Macey, Bret & Brinlee Pettit. Chase, Madison & Reagan Govier. Great-Great grandchildren Wyatt, Logan, Cody, Gracie, Aiden, Darrion & Paison and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Evelyn Rader, Nina Eisenhauer, Elsie Gray, Leta Heaps, Ann Govier, Belle Hyslop, Bonnie Trew and brothers  Fredrick Cecil (Bud)  and Evan Lloyd, and husband Ted Griffith,  infant son Dennis, granddaughters Michele (Clouse) Hill, and Christina Clouse, Cody John Hollibaugh
