Bernice Loine Peterson was born to Leonard and Rose (Fortik) Trew on October 30, 1935 near Cumro. She attended Cat Creek District and Ansley High School graduating with the class of 1953.
She was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Peterson April 30, 1954. To this union two children were born – Craig Jay and Neil Oliver Peterson.
Bernice spent her entire married life on the family farm and then moved to Broken Bow in September 2007. Bernice was a member of the Westerville United Methodist Church and transferred her membership to the Broken Bow United Methodist Church in 2009. She loved her family and especially looked forward to seeing her first great grandchild, little Jackson James, who arrived just in time to spend time with his Great Grandma.
Bernice and Dick enjoyed traveling through the years. They look forward to spending their winters in Florida which they enjoyed for over 15 years. Bernice like to work in her yard and with her flowers, she took great pride in her home as well. She especially enjoyed DeEtta’s family- spending many holidays and special occasions with them. Bernice was always the first to volunteer to help with any project – whether it was painting, papering, patching or cooking. She was always the one you count on to lend a hand and could fix absolutely anything. Her wisdom and kindness will be greatly missed. She loved music and dancing. Some of her favorite pastimes included attending auctions with her sister Evelyn, Comstock Music Festivals, outings with “the girls” (including Mexican Night at the Country Club), bingo with Marilyn and watching “Dancing with the Stars”, during her stay in the hospital in Kearney, with her sister Laraine.
