Broken Bow- NE, Karen K. Kirkpatrick age 44 of Broken Bow died Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Monday November 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the United Methodist Church in Merna with the Reverend Dale Coates officiating. Additional seating will be available at the Merna Community Building. Burial will be in the Cliff Table Cemetery west of Merna. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held Sunday November 22, 1 PM to 6 PM with the family greeting friends 4 PM to 6 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials have been established to the Juvenile Diabetes or the family’s choice. On line condolences can be signed at www.govierbrothers.com. Karen was born April 29, 1965 in Broken Bow to Vernon and Shirley (Geiser) Seevers. Karen attended Anselmo-Merna Schools graduating in 1984. She then went to Kearney State College and graduated in 1989 with a teaching degree. Karen began teaching in the fall of 1989 and taught there until her recent illness. On June 15, 1991 she was married to Steve Kirkpatrick. They were blessed with 4 children, Hannah and Katie (twins), Maggie and Troy. Karen was an awesome mother. She took great care and pride in her children. Karen was a member of the Anselmo United Methodist Church and helped with Vacation Bible School. Karen was a country girl through and through. She loved helping her dad when she was at home, then found a rancher to help her continue that love. She belonged to 4-H when she was young and encouraged her children in 4-H, also. Karen is survived by her husband Steve of Broken Bow, children Hannah, Katie, Maggie and Troy Kirkpatrick at home, her father, Vernon Seevers of Anselmo, mother and father-in-law, Bettie and Dave Kirkpatrick of Broken Bow, her sister Kathy (Dale) Scott of Ansley, her brother Mike (Connie) Seevers of Anselmo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cindy (Scott) Naber of York, brother-in-law, Bert (Bobbi) Kirkpatrick of Broken Bow, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Seevers, grandparents, Lennie and Evelyn Geiser and Guy and Louise Seevers, uncle, Ivan Geiser and cousin, LuAnn Geiser.
