Mary Jo Slingsby, age 49, of Broken Bow died Thursday Dec. 3, 2009 at her residence in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Sunday Dec. 6th, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Ansley High School Gym, in Ansley, Nebraska with Rev. Mel Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Westerville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday Dec. 5th, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 2 p.m. at the Gym in Ansley.
Mary Jo Slingsby is survived by her husband Dean Slingsby of Broken Bow, a son Taylor Slingsby of of Broken Bow, 3 daughters Jessie (Chris) Watts of Kearney, Ne., Ashley (Josh) Vaughn of Lincoln, Ne., and Darcey (Selvin) Mendez of Lincoln, Ne. Mother Mary Vose of Arcadia, Ne., 3 grandchildren Hunter, Audrey, and Kaylee. A brother Sid (Cindy) Vose of Ansley, 2 sisters Sandy (Howard) Dondlinger of Kearney, and Mickie (Vic) Florea of Stapleton, Ne. Brother-in-law Ron Ruzicka of Westerville, and grandmother-in-law Goldie Shepherd. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father Ted Vose, and son Travis Slingsby, sister Patti Ruzicka, and her grandparents.
Mary Jo Slingsby was born July 26, 1960 at Sargent, Ne. to Ted and Mary (Moore) Vose. She attended grade school in Westerville, and Lincoln, Ne. She attented high school in Ansley, Ne. and graduated from Ansley High School in 1978. On August 12, 1978 Mary Jo married Dean Slingsby. They were blessed with five children. They made their home in Custer County.
