Denny Stithem

Denny Stithem age 63 of Mason City died December 16, 2009 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Memorial services will be held Monday December 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Govier Bros. Chapel with Kathy Salts officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family. Denny was born March 10, 1946 to Delwin and Florence (Tyson) Stithem at Broken Bow, NE. Denny grew up in the Brewster and Anselmo areas. After his education he joined the Army returning home in 1966. Denny worked for Bow Oil and later started trucking for Ed Datus then moved to Lincoln and drove for Consolidated Freight for several years before moving to Merna. He later bought a home at Mason City. He stayed busy carrying mail, tending the station and helping at the Cemetery. Denny enjoyed driving around, country music, playing guitar and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed being a jokester, he always had a comeback. Survivors include his brother Teddy of Callaway. Daughters Sarah Record of Plattsmouth and Abby Mattox of Broken Bow. Four grandchildren Jonathan, Trent, Gabrielle and Cayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Delwin, Darwin and Nickie, three sisters Gracie, Rita and Vickie.
