Gary L. Carland, 67, former resident of Broken Bow, passed away December 26
at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Grave-side funeral services and burial will be held on Saturday, January 2, at 11:00 AM at the Broken Bow Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Tom Eacker, Wes Province, Curt Carland, Chad Carland, Dave Carland and Dennis Carland.
Gary was born July 7, 1942, in Grand Island, Nebraska to Herman and Thelma (Mackie) Carland. He received his education in the Broken Bow schools and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. He was a long-term employee of the Nebraska State Department of Roads in Broken Bow and Lincoln until his retirement in 2004. He also served in the National Guard for more than 20 years. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. Survivors include brothers Dennis of Terre Haute, Indiana and Dave of Buena Vista, Colorado; and 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
