George McKillip

Broken Bow, NE- George McKillip age 93 of Brewster died Wednesday January 6, 2010 at the Off Broadway Apartment in Broken Bow. George W. McKillip was born May 30, 1916 to Dennis and Leora (Swiggart) McKillip 40 miles north of Hyannis, NE in Cherry County. He attended country school in Cherry County until he was 11 years old, when he moved with his family to south of Whitman, NE. He later moved south of Mullen, NE and into Tryon area where he finished growing up. He was married to Alberta Musil on October 10, 1941 at Ogallala, NE. They lived on a ranch at Tryon and later moved to South of Hyannis. They then moved back to Tryon and from there moved to Burwell. Their last ranching operation was at Brewster, NE. George lost his wife of 56 years on January 15, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by a sister in law Marie McKillip of Gering, Nebraska and several nephews and nieces Funeral services will be held Monday January 11, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the United Church of Christ in Brewster, with Reverend David Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the Whitman Cemetery at Whitman, NE. at 3 p.m. Central or 2 p.m. Mountain Time. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Visitation will be Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
