Margaret Elsa (Terwilliger) Linder was born November 29, 1913 to Wayne W. and Vera E. (Meeker) Terwilliger in a sod house southwest of Dunning on the Terwilliger homestead in the Wild Horse Creek Community. She passed away January 17, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow at 96 years of age.
When Margaret was nine years old the family had proved up on the homestead claim and they moved to Parsons, Kansas where her father could find work to make money to buy cattle and equipment to come back and begin ranching. In 1923 they moved back to Blaine County to the homestead. Margaret went to grade school at the Wild Horse creek country school in Blaine County and the Dunning Public School. In the summer of 1930 she went to Hastings to work. She spent her senior year in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1931.
On December 8, 1934 Margaret married Norman Linder in Grand Island, Nebraska. They spent their 61 years of marriage in Dunning, Nebraska where they raised four daughters, Jean Ann Teahon, Kathy Jennings, Mary Gwen Bubak and Gretchen Pesek.
After her family, Margaret loved to work in her yard. She always had flowers and a vegetable garden, and chickens. She also crocheted and knitted many articles for family members. She and Norman enjoyed Blaine County Senior Citizens Club and Sod House Society meetings.
Margaret was a member of the Sandhills Community Church, and a past member of the Sod House Society.
Margaret was a tender, gentle soul. She taught us about Jesus’ love not only with words, but also by the way she lived. We all knew from an early age that Jesus Christ was our Saviour and Redeemer and that we could never be good enough to gain heaven except by accepting His love and grace. She taught us about love and grace with love and grace, for that, her family is forever grateful. We will miss her.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Ann Teahon of Dunning, Kathy (Dean) Jennings of Casper, WY, Mary Gwen (Art) Bubak of Kinston, NC, and Gretchen (Tom) Pesek of Brainard, NE, eight granddaughters, five grandsons, twenty one great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren, one half sister Laura (Bill) Miller of Anselmo and one half brother Clinton (Orleta) Terwilliger of Challis, WA, and her step mother, Pansy Terwilliger Mueller of Anselmo, one niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, one sister, Genvieve Bartram, a grandson Kevin Bubak, a son in law, Jerry Teahon, and a half brother, Cleo Terwilliger.
