Margie J. Mills
Margie J. Mills age 87 of Lincoln, NE formerly of Broken Bow died February 18, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday February 23, 2010 at Govier Bros. Chapel in Broken Bow with Rev. Glen Emert officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Westerville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Assn.

Margie was born to Ralph and Flossie Ming in Broken Bow, Nebraska on November 15, 1922.
Her childhood home was at her Grandma and Grandpa Dady's farm near Mason City.There, she was raised by her mother, with older sisters, Beulah and Glea. Margie attended grade school at Happy Hollow School. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1940 as valedictorian of her class. Margie continued her education by earning a normal training teaching certificate in Kearney.
She taught at the following rural schools; Copsey, Janesville, Happy Hollow and Rose Valley. Margie, a pretty school teacher, caught R.J.'s eye and became his war time bride on July 18, 1945 in Kearney, Nebraska while R.J. was home on furlough.
They made their first home by R.J.'s parents farmstead near Westerville. In March of 1953, they purchased a farm east of Broken Bow and farmed there for nearly 55 years. There they raised their four children; Morris, Audrey, Arlene and Roberta.
Margie worked at Nebraska State Bank as a bookkeeper and teller for nearly 30 years.
She enjoyed the circle of friends she met while working.
Margie retired from Nebraska State Bank in 1987. She spent her retirement years as R.J.'s farm manager and helped as needed.
Margie was very dedicated to her family. She was proud of her rural heritage and involvement with the county extension club. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of being a homemaker, wife and mother.
In 2008, due to health concerns, Margie and her husband moved to Haven Manor in Hickman, Nebraska. Margie resided there until her death.
She will be remembered by her wonderful cooking abilities and sewing skills. Margie had a unique gift of making people feel special.
During the progression of her illness her strong will helped her to persevere. Even in her final days, she was still teaching life's lessons to her family. She will be dearly missed by all. Her family will cherish her memory and be inspired by her legacy.
Margie is survived by her husband, R.J., son Morris of Lincoln, daughter Audrey Eastman of Topeka, Kansas and husband Andy, daughter Arlene O'Neill of Grand Island, and husband John, and daughter Roberta Morrison of Lincoln, and husband Steve. Grandchildren Bryan Eastman, Nathan and Shannon Eastman, Patrick and Tiffany O'Neill, Ryan and Kiley O'Neill, Jamie and Shane Ligon, Robbie Morrison, Jeff Morrison and great-grandchildren Mallory Eastman, Nolan Eastman, James Ligon and Alexis Gosda.
