Kenneth Stithem

Kenneth Harold Stithem age 91 of Anselmo died March 7, 2010 at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday March 12, 2010 at Govier Brothers Chapel with Rev. Ralph McKay officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Interment will be in the Gates Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home – Anderson Hall. Kenneth Harold Stithem the seventh child born to Samuel Riley and Mary Elizabeth (Adameson) Stithem on January 29, 1919 in the Climax community northwest of Anselmo. He spent his childhood years in the Milburn community. After joining the Army he was married to Violet Rosalie Strackie on July 29, 1945 before being shipped overseas. To this marriage two children were born Nancy Jo and David Samuel. In 1956 the family moved northeast of Anselmo where he lived until March 11, 2009. He made his home at the VA Nursing Home in Grand Island until his death. He was a member of the Open Bible Church, VFW and Gideons. Survivors include one son David (Debbie) Stithem of Broken Bow, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Violet, daughter Nancy, three brothers and four sisters.
