Lyle Robert Poland age75 of Litchfield died Wednesday May 12, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Gibbon. Funeral services will be Monday, May 17th at 10 a.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, with Rev. Mark Stones officiating. Burial will be in the Gates Cemetery near Gates, Ne. Visitation will be Sunday May 16th 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials may be made to the family. Lyle was born January 8, 1935 at Sargent, NE to Earl and Reuy (Gates) Poland. He was a graduate of Broken Bow High School. He was married to Mary Coday. He later married Iva. He was known as “Hatman.” He enjoyed truck driving, Pepsi, racing, watching football with his eyes shut… better know the score if you shut off the TV. . Survivors include his three sons Jeff (Denise) Poland of Kearney, NE., Jay Poland and special friend Connie O’Callaghan of Hastings, NE., and Lyle (Susan) Poland Jr. of Litchfield, NE. a daughter Roxanne (Kevin) Geihsler of McCook, NE. nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren. two brothers Boyd Poland of Broken Bow, NE. and Harley Poland of Valentine, NE. a sister Josie Peterson of Huntsville, AL. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and a step daughter.
