Cecil was born a cowboy. He grew up working alongside his dad Joe on the family farm north of Odessa NE. At an early age he knew his place in this world was on the back of a horse; as did those around him. He grew into a true cattleman, who used his passion for what he loved to lead him throughout his entire life. In 1965 he started his own business as a rodeo producer. For the next 25 years he traveled across Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa with his wife Judy and their three children Scott, Tim, and Tami. Cecil took a lot of pride in his productions. He went to great lengths to make sure that when contestants and spectators traveled home from a Rocking R rodeo they would most definitely never forget it. Cec loved his black horses and throughout the years maintained quite a herd of them. He insisted every horse entering the arena, that was connected to his show would be black, and the cowboy on top of that horse would without a doubt be wearing a red satin shirt and white tie. Over the years, this and the fact that he bucked out some of the greatest horses and bulls ever known to the rodeo community would separate the Rocking R Rodeo Company from all the others. It was a family run business from start to finish. To pull it off it took each member doing their own part and then some. The business and Cec and the kids took a hard hit in the summer of ‘88, when their beloved wife and mother, Judy lost her battle with lung cancer. Through it all there were many great friends that worked for Cecil and traveled the many miles with him and his family every year. These folks all became part of the family and Cec truly loved them all and was so thankful for their loyalty and friendship. Cec Robinson was one of the last true cowboys left here on Earth, and even on departure he did it on his terms; with his boots on.
