Broken Bow, NE- Jack Mattox age 75 of Broken Bow died Friday September 24, 2010 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday September 28, at 2:00 PM in Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Kathy LaRocque officiating. Visitation will be held Monday 8 AM to 8 PM with the family greeting friend 6 PM to 7PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Jack is survived by his wife Madeline of 51 years, of Broken Bow, sons Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mattox Jr. of Alliance, NE, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mattox of Lincoln, NE, James Mattox of New Haven, CT, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Mattox of Kearney, NE, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four brothers Everett Mattox of Maquoketa, IA, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mattox of Broken Bow, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Mattox of Broken Bow, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mattox of Callaway, four sisters Mrs. Ruby Plambeck of Edison, WA, Mrs. Hazel Close of Boise, ID, Mabel Ellingson of Broken bow, Mr. and Mrs. Judy Lunkwitz of North Platte and a sister in law Shirley Childres.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter McKayle Madeline Mattox and his parents.
Jack was born July 23, 1935 to Everett and Viola Sells Mattox at Broken Bow. He graduated from Broken Bow High School. He was married to Madeline Griffith on December 31, 1958 in Long Beach, CA. Jack served in the United States Navy for four years. He worked for the City of Broken Bow for over thirty years, was on the Broken Bow City Council for eight years, he was a lifetime member of the NRA, was a 4-H Shooting Sport leader for many years, he was a volunteer at the Halsey 4-H Camps for many years, and coach Elk’s baseball in the summer. He enjoyed hunting and making Christmas decorations for the house and yard.
