Wynona P. Rodocker, age 87, of Broken Bow, NE, formerly of Halsey, NE, died Sunday November 7, 2010 at Heritage Hall in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Linda Martin officiating. Burial was in the Purdum Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, November 9th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to either the United Church of Christ in Halsey, or Good Samaritan Hospice in Broken Bow.
Wynona Rodocker was born May 14, 1923 South of Dunning, NE to Bert and Flossie (Cooper) Dent. She attended school and graduated from Halsey High School May 14, 1941. On January 24, 1942, Wynona married Floyd (Bud) Rodocker. Floyd served in the military until November 1945 while Wynona remained a homemaker who anxiously awaited Floyd’s letters. Upon his return they lived on a ranch, but soon became involved in the construction business. Together Wynona and Floyd started Rodocker Construction in 1949, until retirement in 1995.
Wynona was passionate about the care she provided for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Combined with her enjoyment of family, Wynona loved to cook and never did anyone leave her house without enjoying a homemade goodie. Wynona welcomed friends into her home and loved to play cards. In May of 2008, Wynona moved to Independence Hall in Broken Bow where she enjoyed socializing with new friends and actively participated in many activities.
Survivors include a son Dennis (Diana) Rodocker of Halsey, NE, a daughter Yolonda (Scott) Spanel of Broken Bow, NE. Daughter-in-law Pam Rodocker of Halsey, NE, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one brother Vern (Helen) Dent of Mullen, NE. Wynona was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, a son Terry, and two brothers Duane and Marion.
