Alene Ruth Bestol

Hyannis, NE- Alene R. Bestol age 87, of Hyannis, died November 29, 2018, at Western Nebraska Regional Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Alene was born on August 27, 1931, at Hastings, NE to Glen and Esther (Oschner) Woolsey.  She attended school in Kearney, NE.  She spent a year in California, before returning to Nebraska where she married John DeVoe. To this union, their daughter Barbara was born.  Alene and her daughter moved to the Sandhills and worked for Floyd Henderson as a cook.  She and Floyd later married.  Floyd died on December 23, 1979.  In the early 1980’s she married Art Bestol.  Mr. Bestol died on December 5, 1989. 

Alene was a busy lady.  She enjoyed bowling, good ole country music, dancing, playing cards, fishing, and gardening.  She was active in the Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed selling poppies.   

She also helped with the kids Christmas Party. Her church was very important to her.  She was a member of the Kings Daughters and helped cook many funeral dinners. She also enjoyed working at the Jumbo Shop.  Alene liked to collect chickens, roosters, angels, hummingbirds, and owls. 

Those who were blessed to share in her life are: her daughter and caregiver Barbara Fink of Hyannis, foster son Jeff (Vangie) Israel of Sapulpa, OK, two grandchildren: Jason (Tiffany) Andrewjeski, and Nick Andrewjeski, three great-grandchildren; Parker, JD, and Owen Andrewjeski, a daughter-in-law Carolynn Henderson , step-grandchildren: Mike (TeeJay) Henderson and their children Logan and Erica, Casey and daughter Ashland Henderson, and a sister Clarice (Howard) Brown of Oregon. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Floyd Henderson and Art Bestol, a son-in-law, Alex Trey Fink, and three brothers; Alan, Art, and Wayne. 

Services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 1:00 PM MT at the Hyannis United Church of Christ.  Interment will be in the Whitman Cemetery at Whitman, NE.  Refreshments will be served after the burial at the Hyannis church. Memorials are suggested to the UCC Church in Hyannis and the Hyannis Rescue Squad.  Mullen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
