Allen D Hendrickson

Allen D. Hendrickson, age 80, of Broken Bow, Ne died Wednesday January 10, 2018 at the Broken Bow Care and Rehabilitation Center.  Allen D. Hendrickson of Broken Bow, Nebraska, was born August 15, 1937, the oldest child of Wallace and Emma (Peterson) Hendrickson in rural Broken Bow, Nebraska.   He grew up in the Swiss Valley Community and attended the Swiss Valley one room school through the 8th Grade; he graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1954.   In 1955, he enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard, and served until 1962, attaining the rank of Sgt. E5.  He also volunteered with the local Civil Air Patrol and served as the unit drill instructor.   On February 28, 1960, in Ansley, he married Delores Smith, of Ansley.  They made their home in Broken Bow.  To this union, 2 children were born, David and James.   In 1959, he started Justrite Construction and continued in business for 40+ years.  He was a perfectionist in his work.  He was particularly proud of the original renovation of the Arrow Hotel.   Allen enjoyed playing music, dancing, and get-togethers with family and friends.  Later he enjoyed spending time at Sherman Lake.  He spent many enjoyable hours on the lake, fishing, boating, swimming, enjoying sunsets.  Many evenings were spent around by the campfire with the Trailerhood.   He is survived by his wife, Delores; his 2 sons, David and Tammy of Broken Bow, and James of Hastings, and 3 grandchildren, Dusty of Kearney, Austin and fiancé, Jacqui Koch of Riverdale, and Cortney and fiancé, Alex Ideus of Beatrice.  2 Sisters and 3 brothers, Marlene “Sis” and Cliff Rapp of Kingsland, GA; Bill and Reva of Grand Island; John and Nancy of Lincoln; Karen and John Nehls of Broken Bow; Don and Karen of Callaway; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant sister, Lela; and 1 brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Mary Hendrickson; 1 infant granddaughter, Justina Dawn Hendrickson; and nephew, Brad Hendrickson. Funeral services will be held Monday Jan. 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Pastor Tyce Jensen officiating.  Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with military rites.  Visitation will be Sunday Jan. 14th from 1 to 6 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with family present from 2 to 4 p.m.  A memorial will be decided at a  later date.
