Bernice Miller age 95, of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Broken Bow Care and Rehab in Broken Bow, NE. Funeral services for Bernice will be on Monday, June 25, 2018, at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Broken Bow, NE. Memorials will be designated to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for an Automatic Door Opener or Asera Care Hospice. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 1 to 5 PM at the Govier Brothers Mortuary, the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Rosary will be at 7 PM. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangement for Bernice. Online condolences can be left at www.govierbrothers.com.Bernice was born to George and Mary (Mohatt) Jacquot on the family homestead 5½ miles west of Merna, Nebraska on August 19, 1922, where her father also was born. Bernice spent her first eight years of schooling at the country school known as Sunshine School District #54. She attended high school in Merna where graduating with the class of 1939. After graduation, she stayed for several years at the family farm helping her mother run the farm. In February 1945, she and her mother moved to Broken Bow and she began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. Six months later, she started working in the business office of the telephone company. There she met her future husband, Robert Miller, who also worked for the telephone company as a lineman. Bernice and Bob were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on November 19, 1947. To this union three children were born, Mary Jo, Larry, and Bob. Bernice and Bob liked camping, fishing, and hunting. They enjoyed football and card playing. She liked to do embroidery, making quilts and loved to be with her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bob, and her youngest son, Bob. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Hendricks, of Lincoln, Ne and her son, Larry (Adele) of Broken Bow, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
