Betty Berniece (Milander) Hampton went to be with the Lord on March 18th at the age of 95.
Betty was born July 1st, 1927 to Glenn and Vera (Maire) Milander at her home south of Mullen. She attended country school until January 1937 when her parents moved into Mullen. She then attended school in Mullen and graduated with the class of 1945. After high school, she went on to teach country school for three years. Betty married Wayne Isom Hampton, son of Glee and Erma (Boyer) Hampton on December 21st, 1948. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. She lost her loving husband of 68 years on July 31st, 2017. They were blessed with two children. Don Wayne Hampton and Dale Glen Hampton.
Betty began working at Gibson Insurance Agency and eventually her and Wayne purchased the agency in 1976 which then became Hampton Insurance Agency. They worked side by side at the agency until they retired in 1996. Betty was an active member of Assembly of God church serving as the Secretary / Treasurer for over 50 years and Sunday School teacher for 25 years.
Betty’s true joy was traveling the world with Wayne and spending time with her family. Betty also enjoyed researching genealogy, reading, playing sudoku and cross word puzzles.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne; her sister Catherine Milander, her daughter-in-law Freda (Maire) Hampton and her parents.
She is survived by her children Don (Teresa) Hampton and Dale Hampton. Grandchildren: Mindy (Andy) Wright; Travis (Jessica) Hampton, Deon Hampton; Wendy (Cameron) Bain; Denise (Kyle) Hoyt, Dana (Brad) Forsberg; Brenda (Amy) Hampton. Great Grandchildren: Michelle (Dakota) Kennedy; Gracie Hoyt; Ashton Wright; Ella Wright; Cayden Hampton; Isabella Hoyt; Sadie Hoyt; Adalena Hampton; Jensyn Hampton; Owen Wright; Delcey Hampton; Zayne Forsberg; Grady Forsberg; Alivia Wright; Zoe’ Forsberg, Staylor Bain. Great-Great Grandchildren: Lucas Kennedy and Grayson Kennedy. Honorary Grandchild: Jennifer Hampton
Services will be held on Thursday March 23, 2023 at 10:30 AM mountain time at the Assembly of God Church in Mullen. A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 22, 4 PM to 7 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Mullen is in charge of the of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Cedar View Cemetery or the Mullen Historical Society.
