Broken Bow, NE- Beulah Ione Le La Cheur age 97 of Broken Bow passed away Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Seth Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 28, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Govier Brothers. Beulah Ione Le La Cheur was born on July 9, 1919 at Merna, NE to William F. and Emma (Schmidt) Beckler. At the age of 6 she started attending Center grade school in the district where her parents lived. At the beginning of her third year she was placed in the 5th grade. She graduated from Arnold High School at the age of fifteen in 1935. She was the valedictorian of her class. Beulah began working for the Custer County Assistance Office in Broken Bow in 1940. During World War II she was employed in the Broken Bow Ration Office for four and one-half years and then returned to the Welfare Office in 1947. This office later became the NE Department of Social Services. From 1949 to the time of retirement in 1984 she was employed as a caseworker. Early in life Beulah accepted the Lord as her savior and was a Sunday School and Church pianist for a number of years. On July 24, 1950 Beulah was married to Ross Le La Cheur at Grand Island. Beulah is survived by her step daughter, Diane Mayes of Lincoln, NE, three step grandsons; Michael Huston and wife Karen of Clinton, UT, Steven Huston and wife Suzanne, of League City, TX, and David Huston and wife Trisha of Bellevue, NE, 4 step great grandsons, 3 step great granddaughters, and one step great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ross on June 25, 1990, and a brother Herbert.
