Bradley (Brad) Thomas Hoard, 64 years of age, of Merna NE, passed away unexpectedly at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Third City Church in Broken Bow. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Brad was born December 31, 1960, in Oxford, NE and was the youngest Son out of eight children to Keith and Mona (Mohler) Hoard.
He attended and graduated from Oxford Community School in 1979. Soon after he enlisted in the National Guard and went to the United States Army Training Center at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He served his country for six years as a Transportation Specialist.
Brad worked hard his whole life. He started out in elementary school as a paper delivery boy in Oxford as well as helping his dad in the Chevy Garage. As a teenager he worked various roles at the Oxford Grocery Store. He was then offered to be a meat cutter there, which he enjoyed. After school Brad would also work at the Oxford Movie Theater running the projector. After basics Brad worked at Becton Dickinson in Holdrege, NE for many years all the while being a dad to his four older children: Travis, Misty, Mandy, and Tyler.
On December 23rd, 1991, he married the love of his life Silvia Hoard (Morales) in El Paso, Texas. Brad and Silvia recently celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary. They were a team and overcame many hardships because of their unfailing love for each other. Brad attended Truck Driving School and started over the road trucking as a Swift Truck driver. Together they had 4 children: Bradley Isaac, Vanessa, Dylan, and Selena.
In 2001 Brad and Silvia moved to Broken Bow, NE where he accepted a position at Becton Dickinson as an experienced Mold Technician and worked his way up to a Senior position. Due to his vast knowledge, he was able to pass down what it took to be an exceptional Mold Tech. Later on, Brad settled in Merna with his family. On August 23rd, 2022, Brad had a well-deserved 30-year retirement from BD. He never failed to make his family proud.
Brad was a dedicated Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Grandpa. His siblings remember all the laughter they shared with him. He enjoyed playfully teasing others. Brad was an excellent husband and father. He never failed to provide, protect, and support his family. When his wife Silvia had a medical emergency and was life flighted to Omaha, NE he never left her side. Brad enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He loved having his family come together where he was able to share his grilling and meat smoking skills. He was very talented in anything he cooked, and it brought him a lot of joy seeing his family enjoy his food. He also enjoyed his large collection of clocks. As well as going on motorcycle rides with his children. Every year Brad looked forward to taking his wife and kids to visit family in Mexico. He loved tinkering in his woodshed where he would work on fixing everything from his grandkid’s bikes, lawn mowers, and everything for the upkeep of his home. He was a very involved grandpa who never failed to show up for his grandkids. He didn’t like going a day without talking or seeing them and if he didn’t see them in person he would video chat with them. Brad was very loving and giving. He would stop what he was doing to help his family no matter what the need was. One of his favorite sayings he would say often to his wife Silvia was: “Why do I love my kids so much?” Brad is deeply missed and forever loved by his family.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents: Keith and Mona (Mohler) Hoard; Paternal and Maternal grandparents; Father in-law Manuel Morales; Brothers-in-law: Randy Brink, Juan Marcos Morales: Cousin Paul Olson and many others who he cherished in his life.
Brad is survived by his loving wife Silvia Hoard; His eight children: Travis Hoard, Misty (Tony) Patsios, Mandy (Brandon) Fostervold, Tyler Hoard, Bradley Isaac (Summer) Hoard, Vanessa (Luke) Myers, Dylan Hoard, and Selena Hoard; Siblings: Elaine (Steve) Hopkins, Wanda (Dale) Foster, Carla Herrick, Glenda (Ed) Hamilton, Vickie (Bob) Foster, Daniel (Kate) Hoard, Rodney (Sandi) Hoard; Mother in-law Maria Morales; Brothers-in-law: Jesus Morales, Juan Morales, Daniel Morales; Sisters-in-law: Nelly (Mitch) Dahl, Edith (Jesus) Lopez; (16) beloved grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and former co-workers.
