Calvin Wayne Evans, age 92, of Ansley and lifelong resident of Custer County passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at his home. Calvin was born on November 13, 1931, northeast of Broken Bow, NE to Wayne and Maude (Loyd) Evans. Calvin served over 2 years in the Marine Corps. Upon returning home Calvin worked construction for several years. In 1957 he married Frances Hoblyn and to that union, 3 children were born. Wade, Kent, and Tami were raised on their farm northeast of Mason City where they raised cattle, had horses and a wide variety of pets.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 67 years Frances (Hoblyn), two sons, Wade (Susan) Evans of Kearney, Kent (Sue) of Mason City, and a daughter Tami (Jim Boyles) of Mason City; grandchildren Darcie Campbell (Mark), Katie McCarthy (Jake), Janie Evans, and Jade Evans; great-grandchildren Cruz, Ryan, Cameron, Annie, and Cash.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers; Wayne Jr., Dean, Ron, Les, Lloyd, Danny, and Roger, and 7 sisters; Marjorie Lovitt, Georgia Fread, Carol Ditson, Jane & Joan, Karen Hostetler, and Phyllis Zadina.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Holden Barry officiating. Burial will follow in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 6th, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
