Carla Minnema

Carla J. Minnema passed away at the Grand Island Regional Hospital on November 30, 2023, in Grand Island, NE at age 58. 

Carla Jean Minnema was born on August 12, 1965, to Harley Linn and Della Cudaback in Superior Nebraska. She lived some of her childhood in Callaway where most of her relatives come from. The other part of her childhood was spent in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Carla decided to leave home at the early age of 16 to figure out her future. She got her GED later in life and ended up in California where she met her husband, Wesley Minnema. They were married on June 8, 1984, in Michigan. The union of their marriage brought them three daughters: Lora, Jaimie, and Jackie. The family eventually moved back to Nebraska and lived in various places, but Custer County was their home for most of their life.

Carla went to college in 2003 at Mid-Plains Community College and became an LPN. She graduated in the 99th percentile of her class. She worked in a lot of different nursing homes, but her greatest passion was working with individuals with disabilities. She always had a unique way of helping them. She was loved by so many people, and she gave love to so many people especially through her love of food. Her favorite pastimes have always been feeding people, listening to music, fishing with her grandkids, spending time with her daughters, and other relatives. She will be missed by everyone that met her.

Carla is survived by her daughters; Lora (Kevin) Burton, Jaimie Minnema and grandkids Allen and Aubrey, Jackie Minnema and grandkids Tia and Logan. brothers Forest (Monica) Linn, Monte Linn, and Larry Linn, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carla was proceeded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband Wesley Minnema, and sisters Elizabeth Phelps and Carol Ross. 

Funeral services will be held in Broken Bow, NE on December 15, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 2:00 p.m.
