Corinne Kay Shanks passed away November 5, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was born June 3, 1950, to Russell and Arline Shanks of Comstock, NE. Her early years were spent on the family farm, where she was active in 4-H, Rainbow Girls, and many school activities, including band, where she played the baritone sax. She graduated from Sargent High School, Kearney State College, and later College of St Mary. Her career in Medical Records led her across the country, living in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Missouri, and back to Oklahoma. She and her husband Dale enjoyed traveling, and she continued her adventures in her retirement, the highlight of which was kayaking with whales with her friend Karen.
A lifetime of canine companionship led her to raising and showing Australian Shepherds, where she became known as both exhibitor and judge. She served as the leader of a local 4-H Dog club, as well as an instructor, mentor for exhibitors and new judges, and held board positions in numerous dog clubs on a regional and national level with the Australian Shepherd Club of America Rally committee.
Survivors are brother Duane Shanks (Brenda), Waynoka OK, sister Rhonda Shanks McClure (Don), Wahoo, NE, many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces, and a host of neighbors and friends from the dog show circuit across the country.
