Dan Jacobson age 65, of Broken Bow, NE passed away December 3, 2021, as of results of injuries in an auto accident.
Daniel Curtis Jacobson was born January 4, 1956, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Richard and Marjorie (Joneson) Jacobson. Dan attended and graduated from Brandon Valley High School in Brandon, SD in 1974. Dan was united in marriage June 3rd, 1978, to Linda Hayne in Valley Springs, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux City, IA before moving to Broken Bow in 1979. Dan worked for Sargent Irrigation from 1979 to 1999, then started at Tyson in Lexington till the time of his accident.
Dan was a dedicated Sunday school teacher when Hillary and Nick were young. It may have been only to keep Nick in line. He served for a number of years on the church council. He was well known around the church as “the churches favorite maintenance man”. He would always figure it out and fix what needed to be fixed.
Dan and Linda started Store More in 1994 and expanded with Jacobson Rentals. This was a family affair. Everyone in the family has been in on one of Dan’s rental projects over the years. Dan was known for running around town in his latest yellow vehicle working on one of his rental houses. And most recent you would see him with his oldest grandson, Peyton, helping and being the runner for tools.
In recent years, he was a member of the Broken Bow Utility Board and water operator for multiple communities in the area. He had a love for riding trips with his family. Traveling to Little Sahara, OK; Black Hills, SD; Snowy Range, WY in the last year. You would find him in one of his Rzrs with Linda or a grandkid or two. He was an avid gun collector and always searching for the next great deal.
An event he never missed was 20 years of Sturgis trips, with Linda and a group of friends making memories. On his mornings off he could be found at Tumbleweed joining the coffee crowd. He enjoyed playing cards with his siblings/cousins at any family get togethers. On trips he would disappear and be found playing blackjack.
Dan is survived by his wife Linda of Broken Bow, daughter Hillary (Jason) Williams of Merna, son Nick (Amy) Jacobson of Mason City, five grandchildren, two sisters Kristin Smith of Pueblo, CO and Ellen Petersen of Grand Junction, CO, and a brother Nathan Jacobson of Geneva, NE. Many nieces and nephews.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marjorie Jacobson.
