Broken Bow, NE, Daniel McCaslin age 87 of Broken Bow died Sunday May 21, 2017 at the Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 5:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 9:00 AM to service time with the family greeting friends 3:00 PM to service time at the funeral home. Dan was born August 13th, 1929 in the family home on Sunny Slope Ranch to Wes and Evelyn (Clay)McCaslin. From an early age Dan loved riding, breaking horses and country music. He loved to play his guitar and sing. At 21 he married Joyce Eberle, his wife of 65 years to which they had 3 daughters, Cathleen”Cathy”, Maureen “Micki” and Michaelle “Misty” and a son William “Bill”. Early in their marriage Dan worked throughout central Nebraska ranching until he moved his family to Gothenburg where he worked for Mann Hay Co. In 1968 they moved to Anselmo where he owned and operated a filing station before becoming a bus driver/custodian for the Anselmo Merna school system. At age 50 Dan got his GED and then attended and graduated the police Academy in Grand Island. An amazing role model to all of his family that you are never to old to go after your dreams. Before retiring in Broken Bow, Dan and Joyce lived near all of their children in Texas. Throughout his life Dan continued play his guitar and sing. This would be a close 2nd to his love of family. He was always ready and waiting to greet his family when they came home to see him. As quoted from one of his Grandsons "he was always waiting up, regardless of the time, to welcome us home." So Dad, Grandad we love you. We will see you again at God's door for you to welcome us home one last time. Dan is survived by his daughters; Cathleen “Cathy” Leverington of Broken Bow, Maureen Dickson of North Richland Hills, TX, Michaelle (Donald) Barnes of Azle, TX; a son William (Kay) McCaslin of North Richland Hills, TX, 12 grandchildren; Shane, Michael, Chris, Josh, Eric, Danny, Sheena, Janelle, Jessica, Victoria, Tiffany, and Terri, 28 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters; Audrey Jones of Thedford, Beverly Goehring of Cheyenne, WY, Cleo Purdum of Montana, and Leata Krecji of Eustis, NE, and a brother Daryl McCaslin of North Platte. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, grandchildren; JT Jay Dickerman, Angela Hall.
