Mullen, NE- Darrell D. Leibhart age 64 of Mullen died Thursda,y July 28, 2022, at his home in Mullen after a battle with end stage heart failure.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 2:00 PM Mountain Time at the United Methodist Church in Mullen with Pastor John Parsons officiating. The services will be livestreamed at www.govierbrothers.com. Condolences can be left at www.govierbrothers.com .

 A visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to the Mullen EMT’s or to the donor’s choice.  Govier Brothers Mortuary of Mullen is in charge of the arrangements. 

Darrell Dean Leibhart was born on February 12, 1958, at Callaway, NE to June R. and Illeen (Hammans) Leibhart.  Darrell grew up in the community of Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School in 1976.  Darrell went to work for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad shortly after graduating from high school.  He worked for the railroad for 40 years. 

Darrell was married to Kathy McPeak in 1993.  The family lived in Alliance for a short time, then in Arizona.  They moved to Mullen in 2005.  Darrell retired from the railroad in 2018.  He took a full month of retirement before taking a new job at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home as the head of maintenance.  He greatly enjoyed this job and retired when it closed. 

In Darrell’s free time he enjoyed working in his garden, mowing, and ice fishing. 

Darrell is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Mullen, his son Darren (significant other Abbigail Terry) of Lincoln, his three daughters, Kasey (Nate) Simonson, Karrie Leibhart, and Lynelle Leibhart, all of Lincoln.  Darrell is also survived by six grandchildren,  his brother Gary (Josie) Leibhart of North Platte and a sister Karen Dodge of North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Deanna Harriman.
