Delson Clair Runyan was born February 24, 1947, to Dillard and Charlotte (Davis) Runyan. When his father was stricken with polio when Delson was about 1 year old at that time he stayed with his Grandparents Leota and Emery Runyan. Delson has one sister, Edith and two brothers Lyle and Sid.

Delson went to grade school at the Tufford school and onto high school in Mason City, Ne. After high school he went to college until he was drafted, he then went into the Army and was in the 199 th Light Infantry Brigade in Viet-Nam. After he was discharged he worked in the local area. He then married and to that union, there was a daughter Dawnell. In 1981 he then married Elaine Hammond that brought into this union four children. Rhonda, George, Terry, and Lori. The children were accepted as a part of the family and just made a larger household. In 1989 we adopted two Grandchildren, Frank and Sirena. And in 2014 we added to our family four more children, these are great-grandchildren, Tyla, Laquisha, Maggie, and Daniel.

There are ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, three were adopted out of the family into very loving homes.

Delson worked at Rockwell until it closed and after that, he worked numerous jobs in the area. While working at Hurt Oil in Mason City, I think he knew most everyone around. Delson was very involved in the American Legion in Mason City, Ne. and later become the American Legion Commander for many years. Delson was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Ansley Ne. He was on about all of the different committees at some time. He also was a choir member until just recently. About ten years ago he became involved with the 199th LIB AKA Redcatcher's Reunions the Brigade he served with in Vietnam and once a year they have a large reunion in varies states. He never missed one reunion, even with his illness, this year he made it to Branson. He is now free from the trauma of Viet-Nam.
