Dennis Stevens was born on December 13, 1942, at Broken Bow, Nebraska to Dr. “Steve” Howard Brooks and Maurine (Carothers) Stevens. Dennis attended school in Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1962. After high school, he attended Kearney State College, and the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where he attended courses in general studies and psychology.
Dennis worked at various places through the years. He worked with the mentally ill in Kansas City, with troubled youth in Kearney, and went to Taiwan for a short time and taught English. In later years Dennis returned to Broken Bow to care for his aging mother.
Dennis enjoyed history. He read and was well-informed on the US Navy and all the battles during WWII. He could tell you about every ship and every plane that was on them. Dennis could discuss in depth the battles and where they took place. Politics was also of interest to Dennis. He was greatly concerned about the future of small farmers and the middle class of America. Dennis truly believed in equality for all.
Survivors include his brother Tom Stevens of Tucson, AZ, a sister Martha Stevens of Granite Falls, WA, and a sister-in-law Diana Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John Stevens.
