Dixie Ann Nielsen, 57, of Broken Bow, passed away on July 13th, 2024 after battling cancer for the last year.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. She was born on July 11th, 1967, to Mary Javene (Ryan) Nielsen and Richard Lee Nielsen in Broken Bow. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1985. After school, she worked various jobs throughout the community.
In her younger years, Dixie could be found singing karaoke. Most people remember her singing Delta Dawn constantly. She had a passion for cooking and always tried out new recipes. Dixie made everyone’s favorite foods at family gatherings. At the family gatherings, she was one of the few women who would participate in the game of horseshoes. If she wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find her watching The Golden Girls or setting up yard decorations for every holiday.
Dixie was preceded in death by her significant other Charles Mandelko, her son Dawson Nielsen, and her brother Daniel Nielsen.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Ryleigh Lindstrom of Lincoln, parents Richard and Javene Nielsen of Broken Bow. brothers Randall (Jennifer) Nielsen of Broken Bow and Darren (Stephanie) Nielsen of Roeland Park, KS, sister Tara (Justin) Nielsen of Hastings, and many nieces and nephews.
