Donald Denesia age 98 of Broken Bow, NE passed away July 1, 2022, at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow, NE. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with rosary at 5:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com. Donald E. Denesia was born in Wayne, Nebraska October 9, 1923, to Harry and Mary (Collins) Denesia. Don attended a one room country school until 8th grade and graduated from Wayne High School in 1941. He attended Sioux City Business College for one year before joining the Navy in 1944 through 1946. While on his Pacific tour of duty, he and Ray Brown met and decided to start a contracting business when World War II was over. This partnership began in 1947 and operated and built many buildings in over 30 states, mostly under the name of Nursing Builders Incorporated. The contracting business called for traveling and Don became an experienced instrument pilot. The company was Cash and Carry Lumber Co. in Broken Bow, owned and operated for 52 years. After retiring from contracting, he owned and managed the Arrow Hotel for 13 years. Don was member of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus, B.P.O.E. 1688, Rotary, Byways, and an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy and Airport Authority. Don married Lucille (McCarty) Derrickson in 1947 and had seven children; Lucille died in 1985. Married Angenette Adams in 1995; Angenette died in 2020. Don is survived by children Linda Carlson, St. Paul, MN, Mary (John) Sickler, Kearney, Susan (Mike) McCrory, Lincoln, David, St. Joseph, MO, Judy Denesia (Phil Sauser), St. Paul, MN, Pat (Becky), Lincoln, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephew, and friends. His is also survived by children of Angenette; Cheryl Jarchow, Jerry (Linda), and Bill (Connie). Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, brother, wife Lucille, infant son James, stepson Dennis Derrickson, son-in-law Darrell Carlson, and wife Angenette. The family would also like to thank Brookestone View for the excellent care and kindness they gave our dad during his three-year stay.
