Donald Dean Wittig age 88, longtime communicant member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, NE, was transferred to the Church Triumphant on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center here in Broken Bow.
Funeral services are being held August 23, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, NE, at 11:00 a.m. with burial on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE, at 1:00 p.m. Memorials have been established to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Prairie Pioneer Center. Don was born October 29, 1929, in Ruskin, NE to Otto and Florence (Pritz) Wittig. Don was baptized into Christ and became a child of God on December 16, 1929, at Saint Mark Lutheran Church, Ruskin, NE. He was confirmed into communicant membership of the Lutheran Church on April 18, 1943.
Don served our Country in the Armed Forces. The U.S. Army deployed him to the war zone during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Army, Don returned home and would marry his fiancée Norma Busse on October 25, 1953.
Don is survived by a Daughter Karen Hahn of Ferndale, WA; Son Kevin (Janine) Wittig of Eden Prairie, MN; seven grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; his brothers Al Wittig of Wayne, NE and Ray Wittig of Corona, CA.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Norma, parents, a brother Orin and a sister Olive.
