Doris Bayne's Obituary
Doris H. (Helen) Bayne, age 87, passed away at her home in Broken Bow Feb. 15, 2013, with family at her bedside.
Doris was born to Harry and Eva (Towers) Cohn in their home South of Maxwell on November 28, 1925. After getting most of her school education in the Maxwell area schools she moved to North Platte for her senior year and graduated from North Platte High School in 1943. She worked at W.J. O'Connor Dime store until she married Harold Bayne. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Hazard, NE - the first of several moves to various towns in Nebraska before finally settling in Broken Bow.
Besides, being a full-time Wife and Mother — to this union Seven (7) children were born, Doris was an active member of the Broken Bow Does and extension club for many years, and the boy scouts for a few years. She loved to dance and enjoyed a good fast Polka, lively Waltz, or Country Music tune. Which lead her in 1982 to learn the steps and movements to become a good Square and Round Dancer and an active and enthusiastic member of Square Dancing for the rest of her life and a proud longtime member of Ed and Shirley Claflin' s Wagon Wheeler's Square and Round Dance Club of Anselmo, Nebraska.
Doris is survived by: her husband, Harold "Heavy" Bayne of Broken Bow, Sons: Terry (w. Thoy) of Tucson,
AZ, Roger, Harold (Dercilla) both of Broken Bow and Kevin (Lori) of Omaha, NE and a daughter, Vicki
(Allan) Dorsey of Broken Bow. Also, surviving her are: her daughter-in-law, Noi (Calvin's wife) of Tucson,
AZ, nine (9) grandchildren, thirteen (13) great-grandchildren, one brother, Lee (w. Laurel), Cohn of Grand Island, NE, one brother-in-law Casey Jackson, two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Cohn and Lois Cohn, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents — Harry and Eva Cohn, three (3) brothers: Alwin, Theodore, and Wilber (Shorty), four (4) sisters: Velva Cohn, Harriett Ellis, Esther Jackson, and Arlene Jackson son Calvin, who died in 1999 and a daughter Connie, who died in infancy.
Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements. She chose cremation and services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 1 1 AM at the Kearney cemetery. After services, family and friends of the deceased are invited to a reception for something to eat and further fellowship with friends and family at the Alley Rose at 1:00 pm.
