Elaine Keene

November 15, 1947 — March 22, 2023

 

Elaine Moore Keene was born in Buffalo, NY on November 15, 1947. She was the daughter of Regina (Kowles) and Curtis Moore. Elaine graduated from West Seneca High School in 1965. Elaine went to Nyack Missionary College to study the Bible and learn more about the Lord our God.

Elaine met Benjamin J Keene, who was also a freshman at Nyack. They dated for 3 years and were married on June 8, 1968. They made their home in many places during their 54 year marriage. Elaine and Ben continued studies at Nyack and Bethel Theological Seminary in Minnesota. They worked closely in pastoral ministry in 7 locations serving in Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, New York and Rhode Island. Upon retirement Elaine and Ben bought a home in Sargent, NE.

Elaine has been a gifted spouse, mother and pastoral worker. She loved to sing and play her flute in worship. She enjoyed frequent times with grandchildren playing games and coloring. She led children's ministry and women's Bible study. Elaine showed wonderful love for people and frequently encouraged persons to trust the Lord our God as Savior and King. She could speak encouraging words to help people grow deeper in a personal relationship with our wonderful Lord and God.

Elaine died on March 22, 2023 at the Jennie Melham Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her spouse, Ben Keene, two sons, Jonathan and Peter and a daughter Ashley Mrs.Craig Kelley. She also has six grandchildren Colton, Kemper, Bella, Kian, Maddy and Kyler, her brother, David Moore.

A visitation will be at the Sargent Church of Christ on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Service of Praise will be on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Church of Christ in Sargent with Pastor Marty Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Samaritan’s Purse or Sargent Church of Christ. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.
