This is just a brief dash in the story of;

Elizabeth (Liz) Susan Phelps

  We have to start this story with Faith, no matter the pleasures or challenges in her life, the one thing that never wavered was her faith in God and the promise of everlasting life.

    Liz was born January 7, 1959, to Harley Linn and Della (Cudaback) Linn in St Cloud, Minnesota. She spent her early childhood in the Kimball, Minnesota area. She was the oldest of five children. Liz’s parents moved the family to Nebraska in the mid-sixties.

  Due to the family moving often Liz attended 19 different schools in her educational career, later graduating from Callaway in 1977 through the GED program.

  Liz married Russell Johnson and a son Jason R was born to this union, they later divorced.

  Liz married Ivan Phelps in Dunoon, Holy Loch Scotland on October 13, 1981; they would have celebrated 40 years this year. To this union Jason became a Phelps; and daughters Kimberly Kay and Heidi Marie were born.

  Even though Liz worked outside the home at many different jobs, from cafes, restaurants, nursing homes, and care facilities. Her favorite and most desired job was as a wife and mother. Liz was always ALL ABOUT Family. Taking care of not only her own children but any other person or child coming into her home. Due to her mother working outside the home, Liz started caring for siblings at the age of nine.

  Liz was a military wife. She supported Ivan in his 27-year career, wherever that job took them, from Scotland to South Carolina, California to Tennessee and North Carolina, Guam, and Iraq. Liz was often left at home with the children to be their everything, guide, foundation, and their rock.

  Liz and Ivan moved the family to Callaway in 1992. Liz and Ivan started Phelps Plumbing and Maintenance in 1994, Liz was the office manager. In 2001 Liz again supported Ivan when he started in his law enforcement career.

  In 2017, Liz seeing the declining health of her mother-in-law Eva Phelps. She suggested they move in with Eva, so she would not have to go to a care facility. Eva passed away July 14, 2021. 

  Liz went home to the Lord, on August 11, 2021. She was cared for at the Howard County Hospital in her final moments.

   Liz is survived by; her husband of 40 years Ivan, son Jason, daughters Kim and Heidi. Grandchildren Sirius, Emily, and Hawkens.  Brothers Frosty (Monica)Linn, Monty Linn. Sister Carla Minnema, Aunt Carol Tenney. As well as countless cousins, niece, nephews, and beloved friends.

She will forever guide us in her unwavering faith & love; gone too soon, but never from our hearts.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 13, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the Grandview Cemetery in Anselmo, NE with Pastor Dell Unruh officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com.
