Eunice Ritenour

Funeral services for Eunice Ritenour  age 96, will be held on Saturday January 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Mullen with Pastor Insung Kim officiating.  Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen.  Mullen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested the Mullen EMT’s or the Cedarview Cemetery. Eunice Mable Maire Ritenour age 96 went to her Lord on her way home from Great Plains Hospital in North Platte, NE on January 23, 2018. Eunice was born on January 16, 1922 to Herman and Grace Sexton Maire at her grandparents sod home south west of Mullen, NE. Eunice attended local Hooker Country country school and graduated from Mullen High School with the class of 1940.  She married Lorel “Bill” Ritenour son of John and Myrtle Johnson Ritenour on May 8, 1940.  They were blessed with four children; Carl, Jim, Patricia, and Dixie. In the early years they lived in Nebraska and South Dakota and sent their four children to college in Huron, SD.  Later they bought a dairy farm in Center, Nebraska and lived there for 16 years.  In 1986 they moved back to Mullen on her mothers ranch where her son Jim still ranches. Eunice loved to garden and can her vegetables and fruit which was grown from her apple trees. She had a special calico cat who misses her presence.  She could not wait to get back to the ranch to watch the deer, turkeys, grouse and several other outside cats.  She loved the ranch and enjoyed reminiscing about her life in the sandhills with family and friends. Survivors include a son Jim, a daughter Patricia and son-in-laws John Looby and Stanley Thorson; seven grandchildren;Carlen, Keith, Teresa, John, Troy, Lance and Colleen; Sixteen great grandchildren: Ashley, Colton,Cheyenne, William, Sheridan, Whitney, Kelly, Jamey, Lexy, Alexandra, Jamilyn, Jessica, Jake, Kingston, Nicholas, Rachel and Austin (deceased); seven great great grandchildren; Chase, Maxon, Mya Grace, Hunter, Weslee, Laikynn, and Ellie. Sisters, Goldie Little and Ruby Davidson and sister-in-law Gladith Maire, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband Bill, her son Carl and daughter Dixie; parents Herman and Grace Maire, brothers Roy and Fred Maire. The pallbearers are her grandchildren and their spouses; John and Jennifer Looby, Carlen and Christel Ritenour, Teresa and Mark Hofer, Keith and Holly Ritenour, Troy and Lori Marson, Lance adn judith Thorson and Colleen and Vance Grace. The Honorary Pallbearers are all of Eunice’s Neighbors and friends.
