Evelyn Joanne Poland age 86 of Broken Bow, passed away April 30, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be held May 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor DeWayne Hanes officiating. Burial will be in the Gates Cemetery in Gates, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com. Evelyn Joanne Poland was born on April 2, 1935 at Rushville, NE to Alonzo Truman and Myrtle Mae (Hausher) Moore. She grew up in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School. Evelyn met Boyd Poland while working as a waitress. They were married on September 15, 1957. They soon made their home in Broken Bow. In 1960 their first son Lonnie was born, in 1962 son Lynn was born, and in 1966 son Lowell was born. Evelyn worked at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow for many years in the housekeeping department. Evelyn retired in 2008. Evelyn enjoyed sewing and baking. Her greatest joy was watching children, she loved them all and they loved her. Boyd passed away on March 9, 2021. Evelyn is survived by son, Lynn (Khrysty) Poland and Evelyn’s grandchildren; Averie, Ahbrie, Andrea, and Addie all of Gates, son Lowell Poland, Evelyn’s grandson Kabir (Nichole) Poland, and great grandchildren Tallen, Creed, and Hayes and Evelyns grandson Blake Poland all of St. Paul. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathryn Janicke of Rushville and Mildred Cooley of Louisiana, and a brother Dean Moore of Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Boyd, a son Lonnie, and siblings Raymond, Florence, Virginia, and Gary.
