Evelyn Wing

January 23, 1935 — September 14, 2022

Evelyn Saner Finn Wing, age 87, of Spokane Valley, WA, passed away on September 14, 2022, at her home in Spokane Valley.

Evelyn Joyce Saner was born January 23, 1935, to Fred and Myra (Carruth) Saner, in the country near Brewster, NE. Evelyn loved growing up in and around Dunning with so many dear relatives and friends around her. She attended Dunning High School, graduating as Salutatorian with the class of 1951 at age 16. After High School, Evelyn moved to Denver, CO where she worked as a Nanny and attended the University of Denver for 2 years.

On January 20, 1955, Evelyn gave birth to Lyle Hall. On October 10, 1957, she married Paul Finn in Denver, CO. To this union two sons, Paul and Jim were born. The family lived in Denver, Los Angeles and in Millbrae, CA until her husband, Paul’s death in 1965. Evelyn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Millbrae, CA on June 8, 1963, and loved her association with her church for the next 59 years. After the death of Paul, Evelyn moved with sons Paul and Jim to northern Utah, where her husband Paul was from, so that she could continue to have the influence of the church while raising her family. While living in Ogden, UT and in her 70’s, she was called to lead the music in her congregation for 10 years, which was a great source of learning and joy for her. On February 28, 2012, Evelyn was sealed to Paul and to her sons Paul and Jim for Time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of her church. This event brought great joy to Evelyn, in knowing that her family bond would extend beyond this life. Evelyn left Utah and moved to Spokane Valley, WA in 2015 to be closer to family.

Evelyn loved spending time during the Summer at her mom’s house in Dunning and continued to come back each Summer until her strength kept her from travelling. She was a voracious reader and always had multiple books she was reading. Two of her favorite subjects were health and nutrition, and her depth and breadth on those topics was truly amazing.

Evelyn gave generously of her time and resources to anyone that would come to her for help or advice and was never wasteful with anything. She took immaculate care of those things she had.

Evelyn loved and cared for each of the dogs she had and loved all birds, especially Hummingbirds, which thrilled and delighted her.

Just like her dear Hummingbirds, Evelyn had her own flair and style and loved to wear bright and sparkly things, including her color-coordinated hats.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Myra Saner, husband Paul Finn, husband Dale Wing and son Lyle Hall.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Kenneth Saner of Alda, NE, children Paul Finn of Spokane Valley, WA and Jim Finn of Park Ridge, IL, 8 grandchildren: Paul J Finn II, Marissa Hughett, Matthew Hall, Rachael Miller, Elizabeth Russell, Michael Finn, Ravi Finn, Marcelle Finn, and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Dunning Community Hall in Dunning with Reed Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Brewster Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
