Broken Bow, NE – Galen Ellingson age 69 of Broken Bow, died Thursday October 21, 2021, at the Azria Health in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be held on Monday Octo 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Kathy Salts officiating. Inurnmet will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Howard Galen Ellingson Jr., was born on April 10, 1952, at Broken Bow, NE to Howard Galen and Mable (Mattox) Ellingson. Galen attended school in Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1971. Galen was employed at the Custer County Chief office. In 1976 he was married to Peggy Sheets. They made their home in Broken Bow. Galen left the Chief for a short time and worked for Broken Bow Wholesale. Galen returned to the Chief and finally retired in 2017.
Galen enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and camp. He also had coon hounds that he and his buddies would spend nights chasing. Galen was well known for raising birds. Pigeons, turkeys, ducks, geese, pheasant, and quail could all be found in the Ellingson backyard through the years. Galen enjoyed feeding the bucket calves and having tame cows.
Galen is survived by his wife Peggy of Broken Bow, sons; Clint and wife Melissa Ellingson of Holdrege, Brett Ellingson of Kearney and Jeremiah and wife Brittiney Ellingson of Kearney, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Cindy and husband Ron Rogers of Wilton, CA, and a brother John Ellingson of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Diane Ellingson.
