September 13, 1946 — July 13, 2024

Gary D. Roberts, 77, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at UNMC, Omaha. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Broken Bow E-Free Church with Pastor Tim Peterson, Pastor Matt Collins, and Pastor Bob Klooz officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 6-8 pm at the Broken Bow E-Free Church. Memorials can be made to Broken Bow E-Free Church. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Gary was a member of BBE-Free Church and Tuesday morning men’s bible study.

 Gary attended school in Grand Island and graduated from Ansley High in 1964. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1965-1968. He then graduated from Kearney State College after serving our country.

 After college he owned and operated his own trucking company, sold Merritt Trailers and Kenworth Trucks, owned and operated Central NE Commission Company, then retired to his favorite job of ranching where he was a steward of the land.

 He loved hosting many turkey hunters from MS, AL, and LA every spring. They became like family to him. One of his favorite things to do was drive cattle up the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming with his wife, Karen.

 He was proceeded in death by parents, Archie and Maude Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Karen Roberts. His siblings Darrell and Tom (Sharon) Roberts. His children, Wes (Casie) Roberts and Josh (Jody) Roberts of Ansley, Laura (Nic) Saner of Broken Bow, Mark Ward (Tiffany Webb) of Petal, MS. Grandchildren, Cody (Claire) Roberts of Hill City, KS, Alisha (Bryce) Bounds of Petal, MS, Phillip Hensarling of Papillion, Laura Jayne ( Dylan) Nelson of Kearney, Hannah Ward (Wyatt Cooper) of Petal, MS, Landon Holcomb of Petal, MS, Bailey Roberts of Ansley. Great granddaughters, Harper, Molly, and Kasi Roberts, Lynleigh and Lainey Bounds.

 Gary loved his Lord, his wife, his family, his country, and his ranch.
