Gaylord L. Slingsby, age 79, of Ansley passed away March 1, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Monday March 5, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Ansley Christian Church in Ansley, NE with Rev. Clark Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday March 4, 2018, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, NE with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Govier Brothers. Gaylord was born on November 29, 1938 in Custer County to Edgar and Doris (Mills) Slingsby. Gaylord Was married to Evelyn (Shepherd) on June 3, 1956. Gaylord is survived by his wife Evelyn of Ansley; children, Gaylene (Dean) Wiseman of Kearney, Dean Slingsby of Naponee, Marlin (Ann) Slingsby of Kearney, and Wayne (Deb) Slingsby of Arcadia; twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Brother Bernard (Barb) Slingsby of Grand Island and sister Charlotte (Lonny) Schnacker of Kearney; sisters-in-law Violet (Myron) Nietfeldt, Donna Shepherd and Ester (Dennis) Shepherd; brothers-in-law Leland (Marge) Shepherd and Mel (Deb) Shepherd; many nieces and nephews. Gaylord was preceded in death by his grandson Travis Slingsby; daughter-in-law Mary Jo Slingsby; parents Edgar & Doris Slingsby; sisters LaVonne (Joe) McDonald and Lorene Stahlberg; mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Goldie (Hurlburt) Shepherd; brothers-in-law Phillip, Dennis and Ralph Shepherd.Memorials are suggest to Pible Bible Camp. It was his wish that every child have a chance to know Jesus.
