Gordon William McLeod of Thedford, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at his home on the ranch
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas County Fairgrounds Building in Thedford, NE. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com for words of encouragement or remembrance.
Gordon William McLeod was born June 16,1948 to Phil and Barbara (McLean) McLeod. He died October 6, 2020 at his home on the ranch. Gordon attended two elementary schools, Cherry County #31 at Hanna’s and #105 at Sears. He attended Valentine High School for the first two years then graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, NE in 1966.In the fall of 1966 he enrolled in Northeast Community College at Norfolk, NE on a basketball scholarship. In June of 1968 he enlisted in the Army. He served as a radio operator and was stationed in Germany. In November of 1969 he received an honorable discharge after his father suffered a heart attack. Gordon returned home to help manage the family ranch.
In May of 1976 Gordon entered the Hazelton alcoholism treatment program in Center City, Minnesota. This experience changed his life and set him on a path of recovery “one day at a time”. On June 26,1982 Gordon married Diane Rogers, to this union five children were born. Gordon is survived by his wife, and children: Michelle (Brandon) Olstad, Nicole (Bret) Huber, Michael (Brittany) McLeod, Matthew, and Luke McLeod. Grandchildren: Gabrielle, Titus, and Amaris Olstad; Jack. Aspen, Sage, Cannon, and Archer Huber; Carter Anderson, Malechi, Isabelle, and Liam McLeod.
