Harold Dean Beaumont

Ansley, NE- Harold Dean Beaumont age 82, died June 4, 2017 in an automobile accident in Texas.   A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Govier Brothers in Broken Bow.  Inurnment will be in the Westerville Cemetery.  Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.   Harold Dean Beaumont was born November 19, 1934 to Harold and Bess Beaumont at their farm home near Leigh, Nebraska.  The family relocated to Mason City, Nebraska in 1941.  Dean attended grade schools at Mason City and Litchfield.  He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1952. Dean began his work career at the age of ten, a neighbor hired him for $.50 a day plus lunch, he rode bareback to keep the cattle out of the corn field.  Harold expected Dean to work on the farm and because he was a hard working industrious young man, tall and strong for his age, was hired by area farmers to assist in their fields.  As a Junior in high school he began working for a neighbor, Ben, plowing the wheat field after the harvest and cultivated corn.  Dean reported that he cultivated when the corn was 2” high, 8” and 16” high, he was paid a $1.00 an hour. After high school he was employed by Haller Trucking for two years. Dean married his high school sweetheart, Betty Ferguson, in December 1954.  They had three children, Terry (Butch), Audra, and Brian. He then went to work for Kiewit Construction in Central Nebraska.  Later they moved to Omaha and he worked in the concrete construction business until he was drafted into the US Army in 1957.  After serving two years in the Army, he returned to Omaha and continued working in concrete on the missile bases around Omaha.  In the early 1960’s, Dean and his brother Don started their own concrete business. In 1965 Dean and his family relocated to Broken Bow after he purchased the A & W Root Beer franchise. A farm near Westerville was purchased in the early 1970’s and became the family’s home.  During the remainder of his working life he continued farming and doing concrete with his sons.  Beaumont Concrete was well known throughout the area.  In 2005 he and Betty sold their farm and moved into a home they built in Ansley.  Loving to travel, Dean and Betty purchased a R.V. and spent several enjoyable winters in Arizona.   Dean always the energetic and ambitious traveler continued to keep in touch with friends he made along the way.  He was a great conversationalist and enjoyed visiting with everyone he met.  Dean was an opinioned story teller, never at a loss for words, and possessed a wealth of historical information.   Dean had many interests but particularly enjoyed rodeos, air shows and polka bands and dancing.   Dean is survived by his children; Terrill “Butch” (Cassie) Beaumont of Ansley, Audra Hendricks of Lincoln, and Brian (Heidi) Beaumont of Ansley, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, two sisters Linda Zeller of Omaha and Beverly (Don) Sarton of Omaha, and a brother, Dennis (Faye) Beaumont of Broken Bow.  Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, a sister and a brother.
