The couple bought their dream home west of Ansley. Helen and Walter enjoyed going to their cabin at Sherman Lake, where she enjoyed fishing. Helen continued to live west of Ansley but did sell the cabin after Walter’s death in 1993, Helen was a member of the Christian Church in Ansley, where she was a youth group leader and Sunday School teacher.

In 2019, Helen sold her home and moved to Assisted Living in Kearney, then later to Mother Hull where she enjoyed playing Bingo where she liked to win.
