Irene Schamp

Ethel “Irene” Schamp, 81, Broken Bow, Nebraska passed away on March 20, 2023, at Off Broadway assisted living in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Friday, March 24, 2023, at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Mason City, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, NE. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.

Irene was born on October 31, 1941, to Joseph and Elsie (Hoskins) Schamp in Ericson, Nebraska. She was the second of four children. Irene went to cosmetology school and worked in various salons in the Ord, Arcadia, and the Kearney area. Later on in life, Irene worked at Werner Construction for her brother Ben. She really was a “Jill” of all trades. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, and spending time with her family. Irene went on to have five children, Bobby Joe, Shannon Suzanne, Jimmy Wayne, Scott, and Stephanie Irene. 

Irene is survived by her children Shannon (Clark) Hruby, Jimmy (Mindy) Conner, and Stephanie (Barrett) Jensen, 9 grandchildren: SammiJo, Jon, Amanda, Megan, Dakota, Austin, Chase, Dylan, and Chayton. 12 great grandchildren, Everhett, Scarlett, Jaxtin, Jazlyn, Landon, Austin, Justin, Katelyn, Olivia, Addy, Brantlee, Riggin, and one on the way, siblings Benny (Betty) Schamp of Elyria and David Schamp of Dover, DE.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Bobby Joe, Scott, grandchild Laci, and her sister Suzanne.
