Jack Harwager age 75 of Arnold, NE passed away peacefully at his home in Arnold, NE on February 7, 2022.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Arnold, NE with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Arnold Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to Arnold EMT’s or Arnold Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Arnold are in charge of arrangements. Jack was born May 1, 1946, to Leo and Florence (Whipple) Harwager in Arnold, NE. Jack went to school in Arnold, then joined the U.S. Navy on January 27, 1964, served during Vietnam on the naval ship USS Tioga County (LST 1158). Jack was Honorably discharged on January 26, 1970. On July 23, 1968, Jack was united in marriage to LaVon Neal, to this union two children were born Julie and Jim.
Jack worked numerous ranches, and managed different ranches in multiple states for Timmerman and Sons for over 30 years. After retiring in 2015 and moving to Arnold in 2018, he then took full advantage of spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. They were the center of his life. In Jack’s younger years he enjoyed Team Roping. Some of Jack’s hobbies were Road Trips with grandkids taking the “Scenic Route”, and time with his great grandkids. Jack faithfully followed his grandkids sports and rarely missed an event. Ranching was his way of life.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Florence Harwager, brothers: Bill Harwager and his wife Karen, Dan Harwager, and Dean Harwager, and a sister Marilyn Harwager.
Jack is survived by wife LaVon of 53 years, children Julie (Jeff) Stenger of North Platte, and Jim (Cathy) Harwager of Arnold, three grandkids: Brandon (Brittney) Stenger, Kayla (Jeremiah) Keith, and Holly Harwager, three step grandkids: Ryan Kohler, Jake Kohler, and Kyle Kohler, great grandkids: Brinley Stenger, Jaxtyn Keith, and Julian Keith, sister Donna Rae (Jim) Story, sister-in-law Anita Harwager, brothers-in-law Lyle (Bev) Neal, Tim Neal, and Marlyn (Sheryl) Neal, sister-in-law Kenya (Rick) Johnson, many nieces, and nephews.
Heaven has gained an avid Nebraska Husker Volleyball fan . . .
